LEGAL REQUIREMENTS
To be married in Australia you must complete a “Notice of Intended Marriage” form (which I provide). This form is to be lodged with me no later than one month and one day before your wedding day, and no earlier than eighteen months before your wedding day. I am required by law to sight your birth certificate or passport if born overseas. If either party has been married previously I am required to sight your divorce paper (decree absolute) or death certificate if previous spouse died. All these papers need to be in English so translation may be required. Two witnesses over the age of eighteen are required to witness your marriage ceremony, they may be family or friends.

WEDDINGS
If you require a friendly and reliable celebrant I, Elizabeth will be honoured to be part of your special day, so be guided through your wedding ceremony and let me help make your day special. Once you have contacted me by phone or email with time, date and venue, we will arrange a meeting to fill out the necessary paper work and go over the plans for your wedding day, you will receive a selection of wedding ceremonies, and readings to choose from, any one of these can be arranged to suit your needs. I also offer a more personalised ceremony, or a couple may prefer to write their own vows. Any input you would like to have in your wedding ceremony is important. Sometimes family or friends read a poem or sing. I respect the many cultural traditions Australia has to offer and am happy to include these traditions in your wedding ceremony.

OVERSEAS COUPLES
If you are from another country and have decided to marry in beautiful Sydney please feel free to contact me and I will send or fax a “Notice if Intended Marriage” form to you and will be happy to help with any recommendations you require for your wedding to be celebrated in Sydney. If you are bringing your spouse from overseas and require a letter for Immigration or a High Commission, I will supply that for you.
